Dr. Anissa Ferguson
Since starting a cancer-support foundation from my hospital room in Washington, DC, life has taken a sharp turn…for the better.
After schooling cancer on who the #RealBoss is, my life has new meaning. By day, I maintain the routine of traditional work, as a clinical pharmacist; but, instead of the routinely automated evening I had before cancer, I strap on my big cape and plan my take over. That's right, you know the one. It has a jazzy red "S" in the middle. Ha, ha! Yep, that's me! I shoot across town in my Lycra and spandex-lined superhero suit (I am over 30 you know) and help others put cancer in its place. Plus I help them tell the world just how they did it. Pure bad ahh...z!!
As for my husband and two kids, you may have seen them. Together we're affectionately known as, The Incredibles! (smile) They're always down to lend a hand when embracing our ever-growing family of cancer survivors and caregivers. Its important that my husband and I, the other Dr. Ferguson, teach our kids how to swim across this lake called life--and help them to make some major ripples along the way--each full of love and compassion.
I'm thankful to God for knowing (way, way, way....way) more than me and equipping me with the right tools and experiences to build this business and impact lives. AND the vision to continue creating new roads of exploration, as my story is still being written.
In a nutshell...
I speak publicly and pray privately.
Yet, love openly.
I write genuinely and embrace others unjudgmentally. (No, it's not a real word, but it rhymes and you get the point, right? See...I knew you deserved a smile!)

Whitney Nicely
Whitney Nicely is the queen of real estate investing in east Tennessee. After graduating from University of Tennessee in Knoxville, like most 2007 college graduates, Whitney found herself without a job. If you know anything about a Communications Degree, you probably know those aren't always the most sought after new grads for major employers. Luckily, Whitney comes from a family of entrepreneurs. In fact, she was the fourth generation to join the ranks at her family's dump truck company that was founded in 1939. The Great Recession was in full swing while Whitney was trying to learn the ropes of owning, operating and sustaining a small business of 100+ employees. Unfortunately, 75 year old companies weren't immune to the repercussions of a slow economy.
In 2009, the Repo man came knocking and Whitney was the person to answer his call. Using her inherit charm and the skills she had learned from the past two years in business, she negotiated that the equipment he was under contract to remove from their primary business would be stored at a different location but also owned by the family company. This deal insured that the equipment would be safe, unharmed and covered on the insurance policy if something should go wrong. It also gave Whitney's family the peace of mind that they could reclaim their equipment once the debts had been paid in full without chasing down each piece at every auction across the country. In hindsight, it may have been easier to go the auction route!
To say Whitney cut her teeth amongst many obstacles and came out a stronger negotiator and business woman would be a great compliment. Whitney prides herself on keeping a level head and using what her Momma gave her to win over bids, deals and contracts that other people wouldn't be awarded.
As the economy improved, Whitney started to chase her passions and fine tune her skills in the real estate market. She flipped her first house in 2009. Last year, she flipped six houses while planning her October wedding. Whitney's real estate portfolio has grown from zero, ziltch, nada to 17 residential houses, 19 apartment units and 7 chunks of vacant land across east Tennessee. She doesn't plan on stopping until she reaches $100,000 in monthly income from her real estate portfolio.
Whitney believes every woman should control her own destiny by investing in real estate as soon and as much as possible. It doesn't take a trust fund or $100k in the bank to get started in real estate. In fact, Whitney teaches women how they can use no money, no credit and no banks to finance real estate deals across the country.
"Money doesn't grow on trees, unless you own the trees!" ~Whitney Nicely

Dr. Jasmine Zapata
Jasmine Zapata, MD is a dynamic author, physician, inspirational speaker, entrepreneur, former collegiate athlete, and health empowerment educator on a mission to heal, uplift and inspire.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Marquette University in 2009 with an undergraduate BS degree in Biomedical Sciences and received her Doctor of Medicine doctoral degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2013. She completed her Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine certification in 2016 and is currently completing her Master’s in Public Health and Preventive Medicine dual medical certification. Along her educational career, she has received numerous awards, accolades and recognitions on both a local and national level. She currently practices medicine in Madison, WI in addition to her many other “doctorpreneur” and community based endeavors.
As a medical doctor she specializes in the fields of both pediatrics and preventive medicine/public health and her overall focus is looking for ways to get outside the clinic walls to impact health outcomes on a community based level. Her research focuses on healthy birth outcomes and racial disparities in infant mortality among African American women. Given the life threatening birth of Dr. Zapata’s daughter related to complications of extreme prematurity, this is a topic near and dear to her heart. She also does extensive work within her community related to mental health and depression/suicide prevention. She is a youth empowerment coach and has led workshops and spoken to thousands of teens across the United States. She also owns her own preventive medicine and health empowerment consulting practice allowing her to work with a variety of organizations, individuals, businesses, and nonprofits in the community.
Another true passion of Dr. Zapata’s is highlighting the link between poverty and poor health outcomes and working on ways to decrease disparities related to that area. Interestingly, one of the biggest social determinants of health outcomes is economic stability and for this reason Dr. Zapata got involved in real estate as a means to achieve personal financial freedom and help others do the same. She is co-founder of Brown Girl Green Money, a national social media and journalism network of women of color working to achieve financial freedom and inspire each other along the way, and also owns her own family real estate investing company. She has experience with both residential and vacation rental property and also has experience with low to no money down techniques to get started in the field of real estate. Her unique strategy for investing in real estate currently allows her get paid to live in her own home! In her continued effort to combat poverty, she recently teamed up with group of entrepreneurs from around the country and even abroad to write the highly anticipated book "Multiple Streams of Income" inspiring and empowering both teens and adults on the step by step techniques they can take to get started in entrepreneurship and reach financial freedom! Overall, Dr. Jasmine is passionate about creating multiple streams of income for herself as well as teaching others how to do the same. Breaking the chains of poverty is a mission Dr. Jasmine is determined to win!
Dr. Zapata is a very busy lady, but in her spare time she loves to sing, play the piano, write music and spend time with her husband and two kids. She is an avid volleyball player and loves to laugh. She enjoys working with the youth in the community choir she and her mother started in 2010 after her younger brother suddenly passed away with the goal of helping teens in the community foster “Hope, Strength, and the Power to Overcome”.
She is extremely excited to be a part of the upcoming “She Conquered” book collaboration project to further spread this message and inspire others to continue reaching for their dreams no matter what obstacles come their way!
